Russia frees killers from prison to go to war and kill in Ukraine
Russia's military has been relying on prison recruitment to bolster its ranks, offering reduced sentences to convicts in exchange for military service.
The pardoning of violent criminals in exchange for military service has reignited a national conversation in Russia about domestic violence and law enforcement indifference.
